  • I actually sort of like Metallica's St. Anger, and the mix doesn't really even bother me.
  • In terms of metal, I'm not a big fan of Iron Maiden. I know they're influential, but they don't hold my interest for more than a song or two here or there.
  • I prefer harsh vocals to clean ones, as a general rule.

Let's hear some of your controversial musical opinions.

Fuck yes this topic is back. :D

* Led Zeppelin is metal but Van Halen is not. Bullshit. Nuff said there.
* People complaining about vocalists' voices are shot. They're OLD people, get over it.
* John Bonham in my eyes is replaceable, that including his son could replace him.

Controversial? As in "I listen to Panic at the Disco and don't think they're a bad band" controversial?

  • I hate Zakk Wylde, since pinch harmonics get old after the 258985298th time. :P
  • I actually sorta like some "pop" bands like Boston and the like.

Yeap. Basically any musical opinion you have that contradicts the majority's opinion.

Edit: Ooh, ooh, I got another one. I like Rick Astley. Haha.

In that case, I secretly listen to Fall Out Boy but I don't let anyone I know IRL know about it. And Panic. And I kinda hate myself a little bit for it. :(

Controversial? Hmm. I can't do anything like that. I can't think of anyth...

Let's see. Metallica and KISS are two groups of old-time fogeys who time has passed by because they're all pissed off about the digital delivery method of music downloads. They still think (highly overpriced) CD's should be the way music is distributed and wouldn't know the sign of changing times if it bit them in their collective asses.

I'm sure if Charles Manson could post, he'd say something about Helter Skelter.

*shakes head* Man, I can't believe that! Zeppelin metal? No way man. Bonham replaceable? No way hosea. Not by his son, not by any one.

But I will say this about Zeppelin. Their arrogance and ripping off gets to me a bit. The way they praised themselves, saying that they were so much better than whoever was the number 2 group, putting down other legendary bands such as Black Sabbath, ripping off other people's music and not crediting them, etc. Just a bit arrogant for my liking.

Also, to me, Zeppelin suffer distortion from this "Camelot" perception, where all their songs are viewed through rose colored glasses. They were absolutely fantastic musicians, but not every song was a brilliant masterpiece. They had their share of average, forgettable and bizarre songs such as "The Crunge", "Hats off to Roy Harper", "Hot dog" etc.

I didn't say Zeppelin was metal, but people that think that do. As far as Bonham, it's MY Opinion, so.

I dont like a lot of classic rock

The New Jersey Hardcore Scene is still alive and kicking, despite anyones "proof" otherwise

Anthony Martini is the best rapper in the history of the genre

E.town>Linkin Park

That last one might not be controversial, but everytime I hear some 14 year old scene kid say he loves Linkin park because they were the first group to mix rap and rock, I die a little on the inside

  • I really enjoy Bob Dylan's voice. Many dislike how he sounds, but I've always thought he's very unique, much like how Geddy Lee's voice is different from many others'.
  • I think blues are the most important genre to music. Old blues musicians have inspired many of today's great bands, and have contributed to music as a whole more than any other genre has.
  • I hate Journey, fuck Journey, they suck, and I hate them. ImageImage

When did they directly put down other bands? I know they ripped off blues musicians like Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters, but I haven't seen an interview where Robert Plant said, "Fuck you Tony Iommi."

I suppose its time for my 2 cents. I think Led Zeppelin are hacks. Having said that, I feel the same way nearly all rock groups. I also despise rap and r&b. I have a deep hatred of Rush, as well as Dan Donegan (from Disturbed). I think Dimebag (God rest his soul) is overrated. I think our national anthem should be changed to the tune of the Soviet anthem, and I believe that Josef Stalin was one of the greatest guitarists ever. Black metal, Melodic Death metal, Folk, and Doom metal are where its at. I believe that Iommi was the second coming of Christ himself. Inferno, from Behemoth, makes Bonham look like a 2 year old banging on a couple of pringle cans.
