Just saw this now.

From what BPC says, apparently with phpBBv3 on FreeForums, we're heavily restricted, and the changing/addition of smilies is one of those restrictions. Sucks, but I don't really know how to remedy it without dumping money into advanced hosting.

Oh right, WM pays for its hosting... that's why they can change them.

Okay then you can ignore the PM I sent you :P

Yes, I am afraid that without advanced hosting, the smileys aren't going to change. There may indeed be more installable smileys added by FF, but as it is right now, it'll take a while. Just check for updates.

Yeah, I don't think hotlinking from DA is a great idea. Let's not, since most sites tend to not exactly enjoy it. If you really need to use other sites' smileys, it doesn't take long to upload them to Photobucket or Imageshack, cause they're tiny.

I've already rehosted most of my favourites, but they don;t really like that much more than hotlinking right from them.

Also, I believe Hippy said something clever about this....

Ask Carados how much she pays for hosting.
You might even be able to get a donation thing going.

WM Carados is a he. He and his sister used to be on a forum together and people make reference to it a lot.

...Eh. I'm not too keen on the idea of donations, personally. I wouldn't want to have to handle stuff like that on the internet.

Also, don't have a credit card, nor the money, to be paying for advanced hosting. But when I get a better-paying job, I'm probably gonna end up doing it. The way BPC hosts his forum, IIRC, is around $80 for two years of hosting, plus around 70 for support. I'm probably gonna end up doing it that way, if anything.
